RXI Passive Protection Net

This device is applicable to mountainous areas with buffer zones near building facilities. It can prevent rockfalls, flying rocks, avalanches, and mudslides from entering the building facilities, thus avoiding the damage caused by disasters to the building facilities.

Understanding the RXI Passive Protection Net

The RXI Passive Protection Net is a net formed by twisting several strands of steel wire into a circular shape and interlocking them with each other. This device is applicable to mountainous areas with buffer zones near building facilities. The RXI Passive Protection Net can prevent rockfalls, flying rocks, avalanches, and mudslides from entering the building facilities, thus avoiding the damage caused by disasters to the building facilities. Utilizing the RXI Passive Protection Net enhances safety and stability in critical environments.

Implementing the RXI Passive Protection Net is essential for ensuring the longevity and safety of structures in vulnerable locations. The net’s design allows for optimal energy absorption, making it a preferred choice among engineers.

The RXI Passive Protection Net not only protects buildings but also contributes to the overall safety of building facilities in hazardous areas.

Main construction requirements

RXI Passive Protection Net
  • The RXI Passive Protective Net should be arranged along the contour lines, and it should be designed based on the principle of being able to intercept falling rocks to the greatest extent.
  • When laying out the positions of the steel column bases, each base should be placed as close as possible on the same level line. The height difference between adjacent steel column bases should be controlled within 0.5 meters.
  • The anchor bolt cement mortar (cement slurry) should be injected from the bottom of the hole with reverse pressure to ensure a dense and full injection.
  • The foundation is constructed using the manual vertical slotting method. It is advisable to carry out the construction during the dry season and on sunny days.
  • When installing the RXI Passive Protection Net, if the system’s length is relatively long, it is necessary to consider segmenting the support ropes. The length of each segment should not exceed 60 meters, and additional intermediate reinforcing ropes should be added to the steel columns at the segment junctions.
  • The energy dissipation device should not be installed between the steel columns. The distance from the steel columns should be ensured so that the energy dissipation device can fully exert its effect.
  • When the lowest point of the void between the low-lying areas is at a distance from the lower support rope, a flexible metal net or steel wire rope is used to fill the gap.
  • Fix the small flexible metal net with steel wire to the large flexible metal net. Ensure that there are no less than 4 fixed points per square meter; the overlapping area at each connection point of the small flexible metal net should be no less than 5 cm.

FAQ

Q1: What is an RXI Passive Protection Net and how does it work?

A: The RXI Passive Protection Net is a high-energy absorption rockfall barrier designed to intercept and stop falling rocks or debris. It combines base, steel columns, tension anchor ropes, flexible metal nets, and energy dissipation devices, and steel support posts to absorb impacts up to 3,000 kJ.

Q2: What materials ensure the RXI Passive Protection Net corrosion resistance

A: The system uses hot-dip galvanized steel wire (ISO 1461, ≥85μm coating) and 316L stainless steel components for salt spray resistance. Optional PVC-coated wires are available for extreme harsh climatic conditions.

Q3: Can RXI Passive Protection Net protect highways next to steep cliffs?

A: Absolutely. The RXI system is widely used in mountain highways and railway cuttings.

Q4: What maintenance is required for RXI Passive Protection Net?

A: Minimal maintenance:

  • Annual inspection of brake elements and cable tension.

  • Debris removal after major rockfall events.
Design life: 30+ years under standard conditions.

Q5: Do you offer custom heights for RXI Passive Protection Net?

A: Yes. Standard heights range from 2m to 8m, but we can engineer up to 12m for special projects.

Q6: What is the lead time for RXI Passive Protection Net orders?

A: Standard orders ship within 25 days . Bulk orders (≥3 containers) get 10% freight discounts.

Relatde Products

By combining the steel columns and the steel wire mesh, a complete structure is formed, providing slope protection for the protected area. This prevents the falling of collapsing rocks and serves as a slope protection measure.

Applied to the entrances and exits of tunnels, where the mountains are high and the slopes are steep, and where there is a high risk of dangerous rocks and weathered debris falling directly onto the road surface, posing serious hazards.

This product  is installed in the gully and is used to intercept the materials carried by debris flows.
This product is a flexible barrier structure, mainly consisting of a tension anchor system, energy dissipation device, steel columns, upper and lower support ropes, anti-sedimentation device, and flexible metal net.

It is mainly used for protecting small rockfalls and foreign objects from invading on the slopes of road cuts. Its components are independent replaceable units, which facilitate installation and replacement.
