RX Passive Protection Net

By combining the steel columns and the steel wire mesh, a complete structure is formed, providing slope protection for the protected area. This prevents the falling of collapsing rocks and serves as a slope protection measure.

Understanding the RX Passive Protection Net

The RX Passive Protection Net is mainly composed of steel wire rope net, high-strength iron wire mesh, anchor rods, I-beam columns, upper and lower tensioning ropes, energy dissipation rings, base, and upper and lower supporting ropes, etc. Formed by the combination of steel columns and steel rope nets, creating a single entity. It provides slope protection for the area being protected, preventing the falling of collapsing rocks and serving as a slope defense measure.

Main construction requirements

RX Passive Protection Net
  • For the RX Passive Protection Net, a steel I-beam column is set every 10 meters to connect and fix the steel rope net and grille net. After linking the steel I-beam with the reinforcing steel anchor rods, C20 concrete is poured along the groove.
  • Hang the pressure-reducing ring of the upper pull anchor rope on the end support of the I-beam steel, then connect the other end of the pull anchor rope with the corresponding upper pull anchor rod ring sleeve and temporarily fix it with rope clips. Use the upper pull anchor rope to adjust the position of the I-beam steel, tighten the upper pull anchor rope and fix it with rope clips.
  • After the upper pull anchor rope is installed, the installation of the side pull anchor rope is carried out.
  • The upper and lower supporting ropes of the RX Passive Protection Net are installed alternately on the outside and inside of the base mounting bracket. They continue until the last section of the I-beam steel and then loop down to the mounting bracket of the base mounting bracket of that I-beam steel, and are temporarily fixed with rope clips.
  • The steel wire net is temporarily hung on the upper support rope until it is ready. Then, the position of the steel wire is adjusted laterally to ensure it is in the correct position.
  • The grid net is laid on the inner side of the steel wire net and overlaid on the upper edge of the steel wire net. It is fixed to the steel wire net with wire ties, thus forming the RX Passive Protection Net.

FAQ

Q1: What is an RX Passive Protection Net and how does it prevent rockfall damage?

A: The RX Passive Protection Net is a high-performance rockfall barrier system designed to intercept and absorb the energy of falling rocks. It combines galvanized steel wire meshenergy-dissipating connectors, and anchoring systems to withstand impacts up to 4,000 kJ (equivalent to an 8-ton boulder at 25 m/s). Its modular design allows flexible deployment on slopes, highways, and mining sites.

Q2: How does the RX net resist corrosion in coastal or industrial environments?

A: The system uses hot-dip galvanized steel wires (ISO 1461, ≥80μm coating) and optional PVC-coated components for extreme conditions. Critical parts like anchors are made of 316 stainless steel, ensuring 20+ years of service life even in salt-rich areas.

Q3: Is the RX system compliant with international safety standards?

A: Yes. The RX net meets EN 10223-3 (EU), ASTM F2952 (USA), and MASH TL-3 crash ratings. Download our [Certification Package] for test reports and compliance documents.

Q4: Can the RX Passive Protection Net be installed on unstable slopes with limited access?

A: Absolutely. The pre-assembled modules and lightweight components enable installation on slopes up to 70° gradient. We provide helicopter-compatible kits for remote areas.

Q5: Is the RX Passive Protection Net suitable for protecting railway tunnels?

A: Yes. The RX system is widely used in railway cuttings and tunnel portals.

Q6: What maintenance is required for RX Passive Protection Net?

A: Minimal effort:

  • Annual inspection of the appearance of steel columns and steel wire rope nets

  • Debris clearance after major events.
Design life: 30+ years with proper maintenance.

Q7: Can I set the mesh size and the diameter of the steel wire rope by myself?

A: Yes. Standard mesh sizes range from 300x300mm to 500x500mm, with wire diameters of 6.0-8.0mm.

Q8: What is the lead time for RX Passive Protection Net orders to Europe?

A: Standard orders ship within 20 days. Bulk orders (≥5 containers) receive priority production and 10% freight discounts.

Relatde Products

Applied to the entrances and exits of tunnels, where the mountains are high and the slopes are steep, and where there is a high risk of dangerous rocks and weathered debris falling directly onto the road surface, posing serious hazards.

It is mainly used for protecting small rockfalls and foreign objects from invading on the slopes of road cuts. Its components are independent replaceable units, which facilitate installation and replacement.

This product  is installed in the gully and is used to intercept the materials carried by debris flows.
This product is a flexible barrier structure, mainly consisting of a tension anchor system, energy dissipation device, steel columns, upper and lower support ropes, anti-sedimentation device, and flexible metal net.

This device is applicable to mountainous areas with buffer zones near building facilities. It can prevent rockfalls, flying rocks, avalanches, and mudslides from entering the building facilities, thus avoiding the damage caused by disasters to the building facilities.
